动词短语是由动词和介词、副词、名词等构成的，在句中作谓语。
161.break off停顿，中断用法：break off通常在句中充当谓语成分，也可以写成break……off的形式。
例句：It is doubtful that they broke off the engagement.
他们突然解除了婚约，这很可疑。
语法点：It is+形容词或副词+that从句，是固定用法，表示“……，这很……”的意思。
162.break out爆发，突然发生
用法：break out是不及物动词词组，不能用于被动语态。
例句：Once the scandal broke out, we can’t imagine the consequence.
那个丑闻一旦爆发，后果不堪设想。
163.bring back带回，归还
用法：bring back通常指将某物归还给某人，也可以写成bring…back的形式。
例句：Well, partly because English speakers have traveleda lot, they bring back words with them. (12月四级)
部分原因是说英语的人去了很多地方，他们随身带回了很多词汇。
164.build up增进，增加
用法：build up后面通常跟名词或代词。
例句：After a period of exercise, her compressive strength gradually builtup.
经过一段时间的锻炼，她的抗压能力逐步增强。
1222作业动词短语：burn down烧毁用法：burn down通常用作burn sth down的形式，表示将某物烧毁。
例句：These relics that have been burned down are a great loss to the world.
