7月以来，中国多地进口的厄瓜多尔白虾外包装检出新冠病毒。在三文鱼之后，消费者或又将暂时告别一种近年来广受欢迎的外国海产。
China"s customs authority said it was suspending imports from three shrimp producers in Ecuador after detecting the novelcoronavirus in recent shipments.
中国海关总署表示，在厄瓜多尔白虾中检测到新的冠状病毒后，已暂停所涉三家厄瓜多尔企业进口其产品。
Ecuador"s minister of production and foreign trade, Ivan Ontaneda, who also oversees the fishing industry, said the country"s shrimp producers follow strict biosecurity protocols.“This is not a sanction against the product, it is not a sanction against Ecuadorean shrimp, nor is it a sanction against the country,”Ontaneda said .
负责渔业生产的厄瓜多尔生产和对外贸易部长伊万·翁塔内达表示，厄瓜多尔的虾生产商遵循严格的生物安全协议。翁塔内达强调：“这不是对该产品的制裁，不是对厄瓜多尔虾的制裁，也不是对这个国家的制裁”。
Ecuador is the world’s second largest shrimp exporter after India and the top supplier to China, where it ships about70% of its product.Sales to the Asian nation have boomed in recent years, thanks to Ecuador’s less intensive production model that produces shrimp with clean, appealing shells without drugs and antibioticssought out by Chinese consumers who typically purchase the seafood with the head and shell on.
厄瓜多尔是仅次于印度的世界第二大虾出口国，该国约70%的产品都销往中国。近年来，厄瓜多尔白虾在亚洲市场的销售量激增，其竞争力在于采取低密度养殖技术，养殖业者通常承诺不使用药物和抗生素。并且这种模式生产的虾壳干净，对于习惯购买带头带壳海鲜的中国消费者具有吸引力。
位于地球另一侧的“赤道之国”厄瓜多尔, 是南美洲新冠疫情最严重的国家之一，目前已有近7万人确诊。该国最大城市瓜亚基尔正是疫情中心，这或与其发达的虾产业有关。在疫情影响下，厄瓜多尔的虾产业也遭遇巨大打击，”南美虾池”或因疫情丧失其虾界地位。
