砂带磨削利用高速运转的环形砂带加工工件表面的磨削。一般在砂带磨床上进行。 图1是砂带磨削外圆和平面的方法。砂带围绕在具有一定弹性的压轮和张紧轮上,由压轮驱动回转作连续切削运动,工件放在传送带或工作台上作进给运动。当工件接触砂带或通过压轮下的磨削区时,即被砂带磨去表面的一层材料。砂带磨削的切削速度一般为20~30米/秒,磨削压力为20~30兆帕。砂带磨削可有效地消除工件表面的粗糙不平,但不能磨削沟槽和精确的边角,适于加工平面、曲面和成形表面。磨削成形表面(如透平叶片型面)时,可用与工件型面相匹配的成形接触轮或成形支承板,使柔性的砂带与工件之间保持均匀的接触压力(图2)。砂带磨削的尺寸精度一般为0.02毫米左右,最高可达3微米。如用细粒度磨料的砂带磨削,表面粗糙度可达Ra1.25~0.16微米。 砂带磨削的优点是:①砂带与工件的接触面积大(宽砂带能磨削5米宽的平面),故磨削效率高,而比能耗低;②磨削时的散热性较好,磨削表面不易烧伤,表面冷硬程度和残余应力也比砂轮磨削小;③所用设备较简单而适应性较广,尤其适于磨削特大、特宽工件的表面,如钢板、钢带、大尺寸管件的外圆或内壁等。但砂带磨钝后不能修整,需要时常更换,消耗较大。20世纪70年代以来砂带磨削不断向大型、高效发展。其中砂带强力磨削的切削速度已达40米/秒,磨削压力为100~200兆帕,每分钟材料切除量可达500厘米3以上。参考书目周兴文:"国外砂带磨床生产概况和发展趋势",《机床》,1980,第3期,第41~45页。
