吕粱高专汾阳师范分校创建于1950年，前身是汾阳师范学校，是吕粱地区建校最早的一所中等专业学校，建校五十多年来，为吕梁、晋中乃至全省培养了两万余名教育及其他行业的优秀人才，为吕粱的基础教育事业做出了杰出的贡献。4月被省政府正式批准成为吕梁高等专科学校汾阳师范分校，完成了升格转轨，实现了学校历史性的跨越。 学校占地面积9．28万平方米，总建筑面积5万2千多平方米。拥有设施先进、宽敞明亮的教学楼、图书楼、电教楼、艺术楼、实验楼、学生宿合楼、教工宿舍楼、学生餐厅兼礼堂等26座大型建筑以及设施先进的理化实验室、微机教室、语音教室、多媒体教室、多媒体课件制作室、双向传导电视教学系统、远程教育网、琴房、小排练厅、 画室、硬化灯光球场等。学校图书馆现藏书12万册，订阅报刊杂志260余种。学校体育、音乐、美术教学设施齐全，可以满足音、体、美侧重班学生的教学需要。学校现有教工267名、专兼职教师184名、其中高级讲师40名、讲师40名、初级职称98名，其中有17名教师为研究生课程进修班结业；有教师6名正在攻渎研究生学位，有4名教师被评为特级教师，有2名教师被评为全国优秀教师，2名教师获曾宪锌教育基金奖，8名教师在省级学术团体中担任职务。学校从2002年起开始招收普通小学教育理科(五年)、小学教育文科(五年)、小学教育英语(五年)、小学现代教育技术(五年)等专业。学校可容纳学生4000人，目前，学校在校生规模达3300人，教学班达56个，其中包括音、体、美侧重班。; 由于办学成就突出，学校历年受到国家、省、地表彰近;50次。1997年以来，中宣部、国家教委、共青团中央授予;我校“大中专社会实践先进集体”，省委、省政府、省教育;厅连续表彰汾阳师范学校为“先进基层党组织”、省“文明 单位”、“模范单位”、“文明学校”、“微育示范学校”、“中小学师范培养工作先进单位”“科技教育先进学校”、“体育先进学校”等。
